  • Not impressed at all!

I "upgraded" from a Jeep Cherokee to brand new X1 lease but after 18months of use, I am not impressed and not happy at all. You expect a better engine with some performance, the engine is still better than my 2015 Jeep but not by much. Jeep had better materials, at least everything you touched felt expensive and that's not the case for X1. I am also getting cracking noises from the back seats, since the seats are multi position the mechanism is rattling and service is useless. They will be nice and have a look at it for a day or so but never ever fixed an issue with noise so far. My GF has a chevy cruse and that thing is much smoother in terms of noises. On top this car has absolutely no technology. Small screen with no navigation. I have 2 BMWs and it is really discouraging to see that competition closed the gap with the engine and ahead of BMW at least 10years in terms of infotainment technology. This was not the case when I got my first brand new BMW at 2006. Now I am really waiting for my lease to end to get a Tesla or back to Jeep if I want to go cheap.

Awesome crossover that we actually enjoy to drive. The quality outside and the interior exceeds any other car manufacturer. This is our first BMW purchase and it will not be our last. BMW's quality is number 1 rated.
  • Absolutely Terrific Automobile

I am always skeptical of auto companies touting “NEW & IMPROVED” or “COMPLETELY REDESIGNED.” But, in the case of the BMW 2016 X1 it is the ABSOLUTE TRUTH. I traded in a 2014 X1 2.8i X Drive in against this one and there is a world of difference between the two vehicles. The interior is well appointed, ergonomically friendly and seemingly much larger and roomier than the 2014. The I Drive electronics interface is WAY, WAY, WAY improved from 2014. I disagree with the articles I have read that state this vehicle doesn’t drive/handle as well as the First Generation X1 because it is FWD. I have found the handling characteristics extraordinary in any of the three available driving modes. And I am still astounded as to how much torque there is from such a small engine. One stomp on the accelerator will change your thinking if you think this little puppy is underpowered.
